How a B2B Project Management SaaS Built Topical Authority and Grew Organic Demo Signups

A 12-month content-cluster and internal-linking strategy built around buyer-intent keywords, not just traffic volume.

Illustrative example — anonymized, for demonstration purposes; not a specific completed engagement.

  • Client: Series B B2B SaaS (project management software), US / UK
  • Engagement: 12-month content and technical SEO engagement
+52%organic sessions, month 1 to month 12
+81%organic conversions, month 1 to month 12
26.9average keyword position by month 12, from 30.7 at the start

Situation & Complication

The client had a blog with years of published content, but very little of it was driving pipeline. Traffic existed, but it skewed toward broad, informational queries that brought visitors with no real intent to evaluate a project management tool — rankings were scattered across hundreds of loosely-related posts instead of concentrated around the handful of high-intent topics that actually correlated with demo requests. Average keyword position hovered around 30 for the terms that mattered commercially, and internal linking was effectively nonexistent, so even the pages that did rank well weren’t passing any authority to the pages closer to a buying decision. Leadership needed organic search to become a real second demand-generation channel alongside paid, but the existing content program had no way to show it was moving toward that goal.

Flat for four months, then compounding — the shape a content-cluster strategy is supposed to have.

One more pullback in month 6 — echoing the flat opening months — before conversions compounded alongside the content cluster's own climb.
